San Mateo County Health Follows State Vaccination Guidance for Respiratory Diseases

산 마테오 카운티 보건당국이 다가오는 호흡기 질환 유행철을 앞두고 코로나19, 인플루엔자(독감), RSV 백신 접종을 권고하고 나섰다.

이번 권고는 캘리포니아 공중보건국(CDPH) 지침에 따른 것으로, 산 마테오 보건당국은 서부 해안 건강 연맹(West Coast Health Alliance)과 주요 의료 기관들의 권고를 바탕으로 지역 주민에게 신뢰할 수 있는 정보를 제공하고 있다고 밝혔다.

질환별 백신 접종 권고 대상

▶︎ 코로나19 백신

• 어린이: 생후 6~23개월 영유아, 위험 요인이 있거나 미접종 상태인 만 2~18세 아동, 고위험군과 접촉하는 모든 아동, 접종을 희망하는 모든 아동
• 성인: 만 65세 이상, 위험 요인이 있는 만 18~64세 성인, 고위험군과 접촉하는 모든 성인, 접종을 희망하는 모든 성인
• 임산부: 임신을 계획 중이거나 임신 중, 출산 후, 수유 중인 모든 여성

▶︎ 인플루엔자(독감) 백신

• 어린이: 생후 6개월 이상 모든 아동
• 성인: 만 18세 이상 모든 성인
• 임산부: 임신을 계획 중이거나 임신 중, 출산 후, 수유 중인 모든 여성

▶︎ RSV 백신

• 어린이: 생후 8개월 이하 영유아, 위험 요인이 있는 생후 8~19개월 아동
• 성인: 만 75세 이상, 위험 요인이 있는 만 50~74세 성인
• 임산부: 임신 32~36주차 임산부

산 마테오 카운티 보건국은 주(州)가 관리하는 건강보험 가입자의 경우, 권고 백신이 보험으로 보장되며 지역 약국이나 의료기관에서 무료로 접종할 수 있다고 전했다. 현재 일부 백신이 모든 곳에 즉시 비치되지는 않았으나, 몇 주 내로 공급이 개선될 전망이다.

산 마테오 카운티 보건 책임자인 키스멧 볼드윈-산타나 박사는 “이번 백신들은 어린 영유아, 노년층, 임산부 등 심각한 질병에 걸릴 위험이 가장 높은 사람들을 보호하는 데 특히 중요하다”며 “고위험군 외에도 코로나19로부터 스스로를 보호하고자 하는 생후 6개월 이상 모든 사람은 백신을 접종해야 한다”고 강조했다.

백신 접종 가능 여부 확인 및 예약은 의료기관, 지역 약국 또는 웹사이트(myturn.ca.gov)를 통해 할 수 있다. 무보험자를 위한 백신 접종 장소와 일정은 추후 공지될 예정이다.

Redwood City – As respiratory virus season approaches, San Mateo County Health follows the vaccination guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for COVID-19, influenza and RSV.

These recommendations are derived from the West Coast Health Alliance of California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii and are based guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. With regional, state and local partners, San Mateo County Health is committed to providing vaccination guidance from trusted scientific, health care and public health organizations.

The CDPH recommends vaccines for the following groups:

COVID-19

• Children: All children 6-23 months; All children 2-18 years with risk factors or who have never vaccinated against COVID-19; All children with close contact with others with risk factors; All children who choose protection 
• Adults: All adults age 65 years or older; All adults ages 18-64 years with risk factors; All adults with close contact with others with risk factors; All adults who choose protection 
• Pregnancy: All planning, pregnant, postpartum, and lactating 

Influenza 

• Children: All children 6 months or older 
• Adults: All adults 18 years or older 
• Pregnancy: All planning, pregnant, postpartum, and lactating 

RSV 

• Children: All children 8 months or younger; All children 8-19 months with risk factors 
• Adults: All adults 75 years or older; All adults 50-74 years with risk factors 
• Pregnancy: Pregnant between 32-36 weeks gestational age 

The recommended vaccines will continue to be covered by health care insurers regulated by the state and can be received at local pharmacies and from health care and other authorized vaccine providers at no cost.

The California Department of Public Health is working with health care and pharmacy partners to ensure implementation of these new policies. Not all of these vaccines will be immediately available in all locations, but availability is expected to improve in the coming weeks.

County Health is working with local community organizations to provide COVID-19 and flu vaccines to residents without insurance. Locations and times will be available soon. Residents may also call County Health’s Immunization Program at (650) 573-2877 to learn of vaccination opportunities.

“These vaccines are especially important to protect people who are most at risk for getting seriously sick, including young children, older adults and those who are pregnant,” said Dr. Kismet Baldwin-Santana, San Mateo County health officer. “The CDPH recommendations are clear. In addition to the high-risk groups, everyone over 6 months who chooses protection from COVID-19 should get vaccinated.”
